Are you passionate about youth sports and looking to make a lasting impact? Toms River East Little League (TRELL) is seeking dedicated volunteers to serve on our Board of Directors for the upcoming season.

 Please note: This is not just a “one meeting a month” commitment.

Our board members are the backbone of the league — and that means stepping up on and off the field.

Who is eligible to run?

All general members in good standing are eligible to run for a position. Our Board consists of 18 elected members, 9 positions elected each year for a 2 year term. 

What’s Involved?

While we hold a monthly board meeting (second Tuesday of each month), the bulk of a board member's responsibilities occur between those meetings.

Board members are expected to:

    •    Regularly volunteer during the season (nights and weekends)

    •    Assist with field maintenance, game-day setup, concessions, registration events, and fundraising

    •    Take charge of or support league operations (e.g., scheduling, equipment, safety, uniforms, communications, etc.)

    •    Attend and help coordinate league events (Opening Day, Playoffs, All-Stars, etc.)

    •    Stay responsive and engaged with other board members and volunteers

 Estimated Time Commitment

    •    In-Season: 5–10 hours/week

    •    Off-Season: 2–4 hours/week (varies by role)

We’re looking for reliable, team-oriented individuals who are committed to our players and community.

You don’t need to be a baseball or softball expert — just willing to work hard and contribute positively to the league’s success.

Elections are Tuesday 9/2/25 and the first meeting for new Board is Wednesday 9/3/25. At that meeting the new Board will nominate and elect each position for the 2025 Fall/2026 Spring and Summer season.  We encourage all members to review the Board position descriptions in our constitution found at www.tomsrivereast.com. 

We are the largest recreation little league in central NJ and one of the largest in the state. Everyone knows our history and our responsibility is to every member and player of every level. We look forward to seeing your bio submission by 8/22/25!!

Why am I running?  

(Be honest and speak from the heart)To be a part of something special – I am already a proud member of Toms River East Little League. It’s a tight nit community that’s given me and my family so much joy over the past 4-5 years; and now I’d like to give back, even more so than I already have. Whether it’s helping to coordinate and facilitate the Winter/early Spring workouts in the Field House, Parade Day or the Opening Ceremonies; I’d like to continue to offer my support and see to it that Toms River East Little League remains one of the best youth sport organizations in the area. 

To have a Voice – If changes or improvements are what’s needed, voices need to be heard. I hear you and I’m listening; we may even share some of the same thoughts. I can be your voice at the table, especially for the next generation of players. 

For an even greater experience – I want the best experience for our members! I want both of my boys to learn and love the game the way I came to learn and love the game as a child. I want all our members, their friends and families, to be proud of Toms River East Little League, and not just of its past but also its present and future. 

How can we make our members’ experiences even greater...? By leaning on our strengths and developing our weaknesses. We do so many things right at TRELL, but often we fall short on even the simplest of tasks. If the common goal is for every one of our members to have a great experience, then changes or improvements need to be made. Certainly, I’m not suggesting we fix anything that isn’t broken, but welcoming a fresh set of eyes and ears into the Board of Directors should spark some debate, show multiple sides of important issues and lead to better decision making down the road to achieve our goal(s).
